The possibilities for Armenia's involvement in European connectivity initiatives have been discussed with the delegation of the EU partnership mission in Armenia.

 

The First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Mantashyan, received a delegation led by Stefano Tomati, Executive Director of the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) of the European External Action Service (EEAS), who arrived from Brussels on July 13. This was reported by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry.

 

The delegation included Cosmin George Dinescu, head of the European Union Partnership Mission in Armenia (EUPM Armenia/EUAM Armenia), Vasilis Maraghos, head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, and other representatives from the EEAS and EUAM Armenia.

 

Welcoming the guests, Gevorg Mantashyan congratulated them on the official launch of the European Union Partnership Mission in Armenia under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), noting that he highly values the partnership established between Armenia and the European Union and emphasizes the importance of the mission's activities aimed at strengthening Armenia's institutional capacities.

 

During the meeting, the European side presented the mission's priorities and main areas of activity, emphasizing that it aims to support Armenia's state structures in developing institutional capacities. It was noted that the mission plans to provide strategic and operational advice, conduct expert assessments, training, and technical assistance programs to enhance the effectiveness and preparedness of state structures. Opportunities for exchanging experiences among EU member states, professional cooperation, and Armenia's involvement in European connectivity initiatives were also discussed.

 

Gevorg Mantashyan presented the Armenian government's policy aimed at forming a digital society and economy, developing reliable information systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and improving sectoral policies. The initiatives being implemented in the field of artificial intelligence, legislative reforms, directions for the application of artificial intelligence in the public administration system, and its potential in the context of developing cybersecurity capabilities were also addressed.

 

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation in the development of Armenia's digital and cybersecurity sectors, strengthening institutional capacities, and implementing joint initiatives.
